On June 21, 54-year-old Umesh Kolhe was attacked with a knife by a group of three men in Amravati allegedly for social media posts supporting former BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
Umesh Prahladrao Kolhe, a 54-year-old chemist in eastern Maharashtra city, was killed because of his social media posts supporting suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
Independent MP Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana were booked for allegedly violating various norms and impeding traffic during a welcome event for the couple in Amravati.
As per the complaint filed by Amravati MP Navneet Rana, the caller “abused her and also threatened that if she comes to Maharashtra, she will be killed”.
Navneet, the MP from Amravati in Maharashtra, and her MLA-husband Ravi Rana were arrested on April 23 by the Mumbai Police after the couple announced they would recite the Hanuman Chalisa outside Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s private residence ‘Matoshree’ in Mumbai,
“Uddhav Thackeray has forgotten the legacy of Balasaheb Thackeray. Balasaheb was the real torchbearer of Hindutva, these are duplicates,” the Maharashtra MP was quoted as saying by the PTI news agency.
“I was openly threatened by a goon-like MP…I will go and file FIR against ‘Popat’ like Sanjay Raut who said that he will bury me 20-feet deep,” she told the media.
The Mumbai police has sought the cancellation of Rana couple’s bail on the ground that they had allegedly violated one of the conditions imposed by the special court while granting them bail last week.
Navneet Rana hit out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and said that he should not teach the Ranas about principles.
Their visit to Delhi comes a day after it emerged that the Maharashtra government is likely to challenge the bail of Lok Sabha MP from Amravati Navneet Rana and her MLA husband Ravi Rana on Monday.
